India's solar plans have already shifted to second gear with utility-scale photovoltaic projects already allocated under the phase 2 of National Solar Mission. While policy makers have experimented with various modes of delivering support - ranging from determining feed-in tariffs through reverse bidding to RECs to Viability Gap Funding, challenges for the market players are still aplenty. There are issues with maintaining quality in face of fiercely competitive bidding, tackling land related issues such as in Punjab, garnering support from financiers and facing procurement challenges. High market entropy has also led to rise in installations without policy support - accounting for 214 MW solar capacity in India. What are the lessons learnt till now, and how will Indian solar market develop in near future? 6 prominent industry stakeholders exchange their views in this moderated discussion.
